KENYAN RAPPER’S DEBUT ALBUM “THE GREAT SON OF MCBETH” REDEFINES ARTISTIC BOUNDARIES
Nairobi, Kenya - After much anticipation, Kenyan rap sensation Ganjor released his debut album, "The Great Son of McBeth," on December 4th, 2023. This 13-track masterpiece marks Ganjor's exciting entry into the music industry while introducing his hybrid international sound to the world.
Reflecting on the album's creation, Ganjor shares, "It was a new experience. I had to adapt to a different kind of genre thanks to my producer Gary. We borrowed from different cultures worldwide, blending elements of hip-hop, reggae, Latin, and Afrobeats. That’s where the hybrid comes from."
The album's title pays homage to Ganjor's mother, who was affectionately called McBeth during his childhood. Thematically centred around love and appreciation, Ganjor emphasises, "Love is the answer to everything. So love your woman, love your work, and love yourself."

Kicking off with "The Big Time”, Ganjor sings the Kikuyu folk song "Ngucu ni ngucucu" and establishes a firm connection to his African roots. The album then weaves into groovy love songs like “Around The World” and "Greatest Love".
“Greatest Love” has that feel good factor, the track opening with its melodic anthemic chorus before moving into a mix of Afrobeats and percussive instrumentation.
Ganjor’s debut single "Nairobi Love," celebrates the vibrant culture of Nairobi which he calls the greatest city in Africa. A fan favourite, the catchy dancehall anthem comes to life in a colourful music video, showcasing the different faces of Nairobi and featuring two talented dancers.
"See You Again" is a poignant rap dedication to those who we loved and lost while "For Da Streets" appreciates the often overlooked efforts of men supporting their families and children.
The album's diversity continues with the aptly titled "Wedding Song," a fusion of melodica, salsa, and kapuka beats perfect for your big day. "Gangsta Love" explores long-distance relationships with tantalising trumpets, sensual beats and a minimalist visual aesthetic reminiscent of COLORS Studio.

"Rambo" serves as a bass-heavy boss anthem empowering listeners to believe in themselves, while "Bless Me" and "Power" are powerful manifestation prayers reinforcing Ganjor's commitment to greatness.
Ganjor affirms “You can manifest anything you want. I manifested this album. It’s about you. You have the power to plan and do what you want in life. You choose what you are.”
“Letter to Music” is undoubtedly Ganjor’s most personal song. “It's deep to me because of what I’ve gone through in life. You cannot appreciate good times when you don't have hard times. I also pay homage to the Kenyan music legends such as Wahu, Sanaipei Tande and Nadia Mukami. They've taught us discipline, you have to keep on believing in yourself and put in the work.”
The experimental Kenyan album closes off with "Party”. Riffing off infectious guitar melodies and amapiano rhythms, Ganjor invites fans to get into the celebratory mood with this December party anthem.
"Go out, make yourself happy, and listen to good music like TGSM."
